In a dramatic confrontation, Lagos police engaged suspected kidnappers in a shootout resulting in the death of nine assailants. According to Lagos police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, the operation followed intelligence reports on the kidnappers' activities in the Ladipo, Mushin area.
The armed suspects resisted arrest, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire with law enforcement. Police seized a cache of weapons, including AK-47 rifles, pistols, magazines, and communication devices from the scene.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's aide confirmed the incident, noting that the operation thwarted a kidnapping attempt at Ladipo Market. Two suspects managed to escape with injuries.
