In a distressing incident at Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ogun State, suspected armed robbers invaded a hostel in the Abapawa area of the campus, where they perpetrated a harrowing act by raping four female students. The criminals struck in the early hours of Tuesday, causing an uproar among the students. The intervention of security operatives helped quell the situation.
Ogun State's Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyede, visited the affected area along with the Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodun, and the Commissioner of Education, Science, and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu. Salako-Oyede assured the victims that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. She also ordered the transfer of the victims to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu for proper medical care.
Reflecting on the incident, she emphasized the government's commitment to the safety and well-being of the students, declaring the importance of creating a secure environment both on the campus and in the adjacent host community. The authorities are taking concrete steps to strengthen security measures and prevent any such incidents from occurring in the future.
