Niger Delta activist Asari Dokubo has criticized President Bola Tinubu for allegedly supporting FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in destabilizing Rivers State. Dokubo warned of potential unrest if Governor Siminalayi Fubara is removed and condemned Tinubu’s decision to dissolve the Niger Delta Ministry, calling it a betrayal of the region.

Niger Delta activist Asari Dokubo has voiced strong concerns over President Bola Tinubu’s alleged support for Nyesom Wike, the current minister of the Federal Capital Territory, amidst rising political tensions in Rivers State. Dokubo claims that Tinubu is enabling Wike in efforts to destabilize Rivers, challenging Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration. This power struggle has escalated, dividing the state assembly and resulting in the burning of local government facilities.

Speaking on Arise TV, Dokubo warned of potential unrest if any attempt is made to unseat Fubara, emphasizing his frustration with Tinubu’s perceived tolerance of Wike’s actions. Dokubo, a longstanding advocate for the Niger Delta, expressed disappointment in Tinubu for allowing a federal minister to wield undue influence in the state.

Additionally, Dokubo criticized Tinubu’s recent decision to dissolve the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, merging its functions under a new Ministry of Regional Development to oversee multiple regional commissions. He views this as a betrayal of the Niger Delta’s unique needs, particularly those of the Ijaw community, who fought for dedicated regional representation.

While Dokubo reiterated his loyalty to Tinubu, he stressed that his opposition stems from a responsibility to uphold the interests of his people, not personal grievances.
