Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 presidential election, has vowed not to exit the political arena following the Supreme Court's October 26, 2023, verdict affirming President Bola Tinubu's electoral victory.

During a press briefing in Abuja, Atiku declared, "As for me and my party, this phase of work is done. However, I am not going to go away; if you think I am going to go away, forget about it."

Atiku, who had been attempting to secure the presidency for nearly three decades, remains resolute in his political aspirations. He emphasized his commitment to working with fellow Nigerians to promote democracy and advocate for political and economic restructuring in the country.

Despite the Supreme Court's ruling, Atiku insisted that Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, was unqualified to run in the 2023 presidential election. He accused the Supreme Court and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of supporting various forms of electoral malpractice, including illegality, identity theft, impersonation, certificate forgery, and perjury.

Atiku stressed the importance of maintaining confidence in the electoral process for the survival of democracy, suggesting that the Supreme Court's judgment, while final, left much to be desired. His determination to stay engaged in Nigerian politics signals that he is not ready to exit the national stage
