Kano state police have apprehended 17 individuals suspected of organizing a protest at the Nassarawa palace, home to deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero. The emirship battle in Kano has persisted since May 2024, when a court barred Bayero from claiming the throne after Muhammad Sanusi II was reinstated.

Police spokesperson Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the arrests, warning against unlawful gatherings or demonstrations. He emphasized that security forces have been strategically deployed across Kano to prevent disturbances. Authorities stress that any attempt to disrupt public order will be met with decisive action.
