The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has taken decisive action against three private jet operators for their involvement in commercial flights. The suspension of their permits comes in response to heightened scrutiny and warnings from the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo, who emphasized the need to crack down on illegal flights and ensure compliance with aviation regulations.
Chris Najomo, the acting director-general of the NCAA, announced the suspension, citing violations of regulations prohibiting the use of private jets for commercial purposes. The authority had previously issued warnings and conducted surveillance of private jet terminals across Nigerian airports. As a result, three operators were found to violate regulatory requirements, leading to the suspension of their permits.
Najomo emphasized the NCAA's zero tolerance for regulatory violations and called for a reevaluation of all permit holders to ensure compliance. Additionally, he urged operators to submit relevant documents within 72 hours and warned against using aircraft not authorized for commercial charter operations.
Furthermore, the NCAA advised travelers to only patronize airlines and charter operators holding valid Air Operators Certificates (AOC) issued by the authority. Najomo encouraged industry stakeholders to report any suspicious activities promptly for necessary action, highlighting the importance of maintaining safety and regulatory standards in Nigeria's aviation sector
