The internal crisis plaguing the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reached a new level of intensity as Governor Hyacinth Alia's camp refuses to comply with the National Working Committee's (NWC) directive to withdraw ongoing legal actions within the stipulated seven-day period.
The standoff, rooted in strained relations between Governor Alia and the party's state leader, George Akume, has exacerbated existing divisions within the state APC. Despite efforts to resolve the conflict, including the suspension and reinstatement of party officials and legal wrangling over leadership positions, the faction aligned with Governor Alia shows no signs of backing down.
Notably, Dan Onjeh, a prominent supporter of Governor Alia, has criticized the NWC's handling of the crisis, demanding adherence to party constitution or resignation.
However, Austin Agada, the embattled state chairman, maintains that he has instructed all parties involved in legal disputes to withdraw their cases in compliance with the NWC's directive.
As tensions persist, Governor Alia reaffirms his allegiance to the NWC amidst the deadlock, signaling a potential escalation in the ongoing power struggle within the Benue APC.
