Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has issued a stern warning to his predecessors, including Chief Samuel Ortom, to refrain from interfering in his administration's affairs.
The governor's remarks came in response to advice from Ortom during his 63rd birthday anniversary public lecture in Makurdi, where he urged Alia to reconcile with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, for the state's development.
Speaking to journalists upon his return from the USA, Governor Alia asserted his determination not to allow any individual, whether former governors or civil servants, to destabilize his government.
He emphasized that while constructive criticism is welcome, baseless interference will not be tolerated.
Alia highlighted the importance of unity and focused efforts towards advancing the state's development agenda. He underscored the need for all stakeholders to support the administration's initiatives aimed at addressing key challenges, particularly insecurity and displacement of residents.
The governor's strong stance reflects his commitment to steering Benue State towards progress and prosperity. With a focus on restoring peace and facilitating the return of displaced persons, Alia aims to position Benue as a model for sustainable development and governance.
As political tensions continue to simmer, Alia's uncompromising message signals a new chapter in Benue's political landscape.
The governor's call for unity and collective action underscores the imperative of constructive engagement and cooperation among all stakeholders for the state's advancement.
