Catholic Bishop Matthew Kukah, in his Christmas message in Sokoto, issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu, stating that the President has no excuses if his government fails to address Nigeria's pressing issues.
Kukah emphasized that neither history nor God would forgive Tinubu if he fails.
The message, titled 'Time to Reclaim Nigeria’s Greatness,' touched on unity, nation-building, insecurity, and politics. Kukah urged Tinubu to use his wealth of experience to put an end to the instrumentalization of religious, ethnic, or regional identities.
While acknowledging the challenges as deep and structural, Kukah argued that palliatives would not resolve Nigeria's problems.
He called on the President to address issues such as senseless killings, abductions, and kidnappings, emphasizing the need to restore the sanctity of human life.
Kukah also stressed the importance of ridding the public service of corrupt individuals to achieve meaningful progress.
The bishop urged citizens, especially Christians, to be honest models of their faith, emphasizing that true Christianity goes beyond mere association
