Nigeria Boko Haram's Latest Attack: Urgent Appeal for Military Action and Youth's Rejection of Extremism

Over the weekend, suspected Boko Haram militants launched a devastating ambush on motorists, passengers, soldiers, and members of the civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) on the Gwoza- Limankara-Uvaha road in the Gwoza local government area of Borno State. According to Leadership News, one soldier and three civilians tragically died in the attack. The militants set fire to five commercial vehicles, including a security patrol vehicle, and several individuals were reported missing or abducted.

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents the Southern Borno senatorial district, has urgently called for a collaborative effort between the military and the youth of Gwoza to counteract the escalating violence in the region. He emphasized the importance of local involvement and urged the youth to actively participate in the fight against Boko Haram, as seen in other local government areas.

Ndume also highlighted the concerning trend of local youths joining the ranks of Boko Haram and emphasized the need for increased military presence in Gwoza. The ongoing threat has instilled fear among residents, hindering economic activities and preventing farmers from tending to their crops.
