The Nigeria Police Force, Sokoto State Command, has apprehended five suspected terrorists, locally known as bandits, operating in the Tambuwal and Bodinga local government areas of Sokoto State in the North-West region.

The arrest was disclosed by security expert Zagazola on X platform (formerly Twitter), who commended the police for successfully targeting the notorious bandits. According to Zagazola, the security forces not only apprehended the suspects but also recovered arms used by the criminal group.

This development comes in the wake of heightened concerns about terrorism in the region. In a related event, Kachalla Duna Tagirke, a prominent bandit kingpin operating under the notorious Bello Turji Kachalla, was also reportedly arrested.

Bello Turji Kachalla, known for his involvement in banditry in northern Nigeria, had previously accused the government of complicity in the activities of terrorists, alleging that some officials benefited from the ongoing insecurity.

The recent arrests mark a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to curb terrorism and enhance security in Sokoto State
