In his recently launched book, "Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser," Femi Adesina, former special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, exposes a pivotal moment in the Buhari administration.

The book details how President Buhari, seemingly mistakenly, approved a $10 million gas contract for the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) to award a contract to the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) Limited.

The revelation centers around a Partial Risk Guarantee (PRG) of the World Bank, specifically for Accugas to supply natural gas to the Calabar Generation Company Limited. The contract, approved in a letter dated March 2, 2017, brought to light the president's trust in advisors for industries outside his expertise.

Marilyn Amobi, the former managing director of NBET, played a significant role in the encounter with Buhari. The book notes that while Amobi stood against the deal, expressing concern
Buhari insisted he was wrongly advised.

Despite stakeholders questioning how many similar deals might exist, the book doesn't mention any sanctions following this action. This revelation comes amid allegations of Buhari's signature forgery for a Central Bank of Nigeria withdrawal and a backdrop of gas suppliers being owed $1.3 billion amidst Nigeria's economic challenges.

The timing of this disclosure aligns with the ongoing economic hardships in Nigeria, prompting discussions on Buhari's economic policies and decisions.

Adesina's book sheds light on the complexities and challenges faced during Buhari's presidency, providing a critical perspective on a significant chapter in Nigeria's recent history.
