Canada announces a landmark initiative granting caregivers immediate permanent residency upon arrival, aiming to address the nation's evolving home care needs. Eligibility includes achieving a minimum CLB level, possessing relevant work experience, and securing a full-time home care job offer.
Canada's Immigration Minister, Marc Miller, has unveiled a revolutionary plan, granting caregivers immediate permanent residency upon their arrival in the country. Set to launch by late 2024 or early 2025, this initiative replaces existing pilot programs and aims to address Canada's evolving home care needs. Unlike previous programs that demanded work experience within Canada, this initiative streamlines the process, recognizing caregivers' essential contributions.
The eligibility criteria include achieving a minimum CLB level, holding the equivalent of a Canadian high school diploma, possessing relevant work experience, and securing a full-time home care job offer. The move comes in response to the growing demand for caregivers as Canada expects to welcome over 15,000 new permanent residents through these programs, according to the 2024-2026 Immigration Levels Plan.
The announcement has been widely acclaimed for its proactive approach to supporting caregivers and their indispensable role in Canadian families.
