Additionally, Canadian citizens in Nigeria and those in Equatorial Guinea, as well as Sao Tome and Principe, are not receiving embassy services.
The official statement from the embassy read, "The High Commission of Canada to #Nigeria, in #Abuja, has temporarily suspended operations until further notice."
Canada has also issued a travel advisory warning its citizens to refrain from non-essential travel to Nigeria, including Abuja. The advisory cited the unpredictable security situation, significant risks of terrorism, crime, inter-communal clashes, armed attacks, and kidnappings throughout the country.
This travel advisory aligns with similar warnings issued by the United States to its citizens in Nigeria, specifying regions to avoid due to heightened security risks. The circumstances surrounding the fire incident and the embassy's resumption of services remain uncertain
