The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced that its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) will convene for its first meeting under the leadership of Governor Olayemi Cardoso on February 26 and 27, 2024.
The revelation follows a strategic two-day session to prepare members for the upcoming meeting. Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Hakama Sidi Ali, disclosed that the focus includes discussions on enhancing the monetary policy transmission mechanism.
Facilitated by experts, including former MPC members and IMF specialists, the insights gained from these sessions are expected to contribute significantly to the robustness of future MPC meetings. President Bola Tinubu appointed Cardoso in October 2023, and this marks the inaugural MPC gathering since his confirmation by the Senate.
