An 11-year-old girl, Happiness Nwafor, was rescued in Onitsha, Anambra State, after being brutally assaulted by her employer, Adachukwu Cukelu-Okafor. The victim disclosed that she was beaten for touching her employer's daughter.
The incident, involving the use of a broken bottle, iron, knife, and pistol, occurred just two weeks into Happiness's stay. The suspect reportedly burned the victim's clothes and left her naked with a relative.
Despite the brutality, the suspect, a lawyer, allegedly boasted that nothing would happen due to her legal background. Ifeoma Muoghalu, the relative, revealed that the suspect has not been responsive since the incident. The victim, handed over to her employer on January 5, suffered disfigurement during her short stay. Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Hon Ify Obinabo, expressed concern and vowed to ensure justice.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Akwa.
Meanwhile, the suspect is reportedly on the run.
