Dangote Group has clarified that NNPC has not yet lifted petrol from its refinery, disputing claims made in a recent article. The company emphasized that no contracts have been finalized and reiterated that petrol pricing is regulated by government authorities, assuring the public of the high quality of its products.
In a recent press statement, Dangote Group addressed claims regarding the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) lifting petrol from its refinery. The company refuted a report from BusinessDay Newspapers stating that NNPC had started selling petrol at N897 per litre, calling it misleading.
Anthony Chiejina, Dangote's Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, clarified that no petrol has been lifted from their facility. The refinery has not finalized its contract with NNPC, making any discussions about pricing irrelevant at this stage. He noted that the market for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) is strictly regulated by government authorities, which means that Dangote cannot set or influence the price of petrol.
Chiejina reassured the public of the high quality of the petroleum products produced by Dangote, which will soon be made available throughout Nigeria. The company is committed to ensuring that accurate information is communicated to stakeholders and the public.
As anticipation builds for the launch of Dangote petrol, the company seeks to eliminate any confusion or misinformation about the current status of petrol availability and pricing in the country. With a focus on delivering quality and transparency, Dangote aims to play a significant role in the Nigerian fuel market.
