Dangote Refinery has set petrol prices at N960 per litre for ships and N990 per litre for trucks, emphasizing the quality of its products. The company warns that cheaper alternatives may be substandard, urging support for Nigeria's local refining sector.
Dangote Refinery has announced its pricing for petrol, stating it sells at N960 per litre for ship deliveries and N990 per litre for truck supplies. The company's Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, emphasized that any petrol priced lower than theirs is likely substandard. He pointed out that the recent deregulation by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) set the baseline price at N971 for ships and N990 for trucks, and Dangote has opted for a more competitive pricing strategy.
Chiejina responded to claims from fuel marketers suggesting that imported petrol could be sold at lower rates, insisting that such claims indicate the potential for inferior product quality. He noted that Dangote's pricing is benchmarked against international standards and expressed concern over the lack of proper testing facilities by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, which may allow subpar fuel into the market.
The refinery reaffirmed its commitment to high-quality local production, advocating for support of Nigeria's refining sector to boost economic growth. As the company begins sales at these rates, it aims to ensure the availability of reliable petrol for consumers while maintaining the integrity of its products amidst ongoing market fluctuations.
