Aliko Dangote, Nigerian business magnate and founder of the Dangote Group, announced the immortalization of the late Herbert Wigwe by naming a major road leading to the Dangote Refinery after the esteemed banking icon. Dangote shared this heartfelt decision during a tribute event organized by professionals on Monday.
During the emotional tribute, Dangote expressed his deep connection with Herbert Wigwe, describing him as a beloved friend, brother, and mentee. He revealed, "To immortalize my beloved friend, my brother, and my mentee, I have decided to name one of the major refinery and petrochemical roads, out of the 120 kilometers, after him — the biggest road will now be named ‘Herbert Wigwe.'"
The tribute comes following the tragic helicopter crash in the United States that claimed the lives of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, CEO of Access Bank, his wife Doreen Wigwe, his son Chizi Wigwe, and Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former group chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc.
The naming of the refinery road stands as a lasting homage to Herbert Wigwe's legacy in the banking industry and his significant contributions to the Nigerian business landscape. Further details on this heartfelt tribute are expected to be revealed in the coming days.
