In a recent address at a bi-weekly news briefing in Abuja, the Defense Headquarters (DHQ) reiterated its commitment to combatting insurgent groups and criminal elements within Nigeria. DHQ spokesperson, Edward Buba, emphasized the unwavering determination of the military to confront and neutralize threats posed by armed actors across the nation.
Buba asserted, "The fighting spirit of our men and women in uniform is strong, resilient, focused, proud, and committed." He underscored the imperative for continued military operations to safeguard citizens and maintain stability within the country.
Moreover, Buba issued a stern warning to any group that takes up arms against the nation, declaring that such actions would be met with decisive military action. He emphasized the need for total and unconditional support from the civilian population to bolster the efforts of the armed forces.
Addressing the root causes of security challenges, Buba acknowledged that many of the issues, including banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, illegal mining, and secessionist agitations, are perpetuated by citizens seeking self-aggrandizement. He urged Nigerians to recognize their responsibility to the nation and to collaborate with security forces to address these challenges effectively.
