Diageo, the UK spirits giant, has resolved with renowned US rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs, concluding a legal dispute that arose from racism allegations. Combs, also known as P Diddy or Puff Daddy, withdrew his legal action against Diageo, which included claims that their joint ventures, particularly the DeLeon tequila brand, were unfairly typecast as 'black brands.'
The legal filing suggested that Diageo had categorized Ciroc and DeLeon as products exclusively aimed at 'urban' consumers.
The settlement signifies the end of ongoing disputes, with both parties agreeing to move forward. Notably, Diageo clarified that it no longer maintains any business relationship with Combs.
The financial terms of the settlement remain undisclosed.
