The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has distributed sensitive and non-sensitive materials for the upcoming governorship election in Edo State, scheduled for September 21. Key materials include BVAS, sealed ballot papers, and result sheets, all aimed at ensuring a smooth electoral process across 18 local government areas.
As Edo State prepares for its upcoming gubernatorial election on Saturday, September 21, 2024, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun distributing essential election materials to the state's 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs). This crucial step in the electoral process was observed by our correspondent at INEC's headquarters and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Benin City, the state capital.
The distribution included both sensitive and non-sensitive materials necessary for conducting a fair and transparent election. Among the critical items distributed were the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices, sealed ballot papers, and result sheets. These sensitive materials were handed over to the designated Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs) responsible for each LGA.
To ensure the security and integrity of the electoral materials, armed security personnel escorted INEC officials as they transported the items to their respective destinations across the state. The distribution process was carried out under the watchful eyes of election observers, additional security officials, and representatives from various political parties, adding a layer of transparency to the proceedings.
As the election day approaches, all eyes will be on Edo State as citizens prepare to choose their next governor.
