Power supply in Nigeria plummeted to 3,636 megawatts after the sudden shutdown of the country's largest power plant, Egbin Power Plant.
The loss of 676MW from Egbin, occurring at 10 a.m., significantly reduced the grid supply from 4,416MW to 3,632MW.
The shutdown, lasting for three days, was announced in a statement by the power generation company. The decision was made to facilitate maintenance on the gas pipeline supplying gas to the Egbin Power Station by the Nigerian Gas Company.
This development raises concerns about the impact on the nation's power grid and highlights challenges within the transmission network.
