Augustine Eguavoen has been appointed to a new role with Nigeria's Super Eagles, serving as the key technical link between the team and new head coach Janne Andersson. This role includes providing detailed player insights and assisting Andersson's staff, marking a shift from previous coaching dynamics.
Augustine Eguavoen, the NFF technical director, has been given an expanded role with Nigeria’s Super Eagles, as reported by SCORENigeria. Eguavoen will now serve as a key liaison between the team and new head coach Janne Andersson. In his new position, Eguavoen will offer detailed insights and information about players to assist Andersson and his coaching staff.
This role is particularly notable following Finidi George’s exit from his coaching position earlier this year. Eguavoen’s expanded responsibilities mark a shift from his previous lack of integration with former coaches like Gernot Rohr and Jose Peseiro. The aim is to strengthen technical support and team cohesion. There is also speculation that Eguavoen could temporarily step in as caretaker coach for the upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
