An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has sentenced Ojo Olasunkanmi, 31, and Obamoyegun Dele, 31, to death by hanging for conspiracy and armed robbery. The convicts were arraigned on a six-count charge bordering on conspiracy and armed robbery, contrary to the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act. The offences were committed on August 11, 2018, at Oganganmodu area, off Igbole Road, Ido-Ekiti. Justice Bamidele Omotoso held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, stating, "May God have mercy upon your souls." The court heard that the defendants, armed with guns and axes, attacked residents and dispossessed them of phones, laptops, a Sienna bus, and N290,000 cash.
