Nasir El-Rufai accuses Kaduna Governor Uba Sani of sycophantically defending President Tinubu for personal gain, citing the N150 billion federal grants received by the state. El-Rufai claims Sani’s actions are influenced by political and financial interests, warning that Kaduna citizens will judge him in due time.

In a recent online post, former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, strongly criticized his successor, Uba Sani, for defending President Bola Tinubu, accusing him of sycophancy. El-Rufai pointed out that Sani’s public support for Tinubu is likely motivated by the N150 billion in federal grants and reimbursements that have been allocated to Kaduna over the last 18 months. El-Rufai’s statement came after Governor Sani had defended Tinubu, claiming that no president in Nigeria’s history had practiced democracy as Tinubu has. Sani also dismissed allegations made by El-Rufai regarding Tinubu’s leadership, insisting they were inaccurate.

El-Rufai responded by questioning Sani’s motives, remarking that his defense of the president seemed to be more about securing personal and political gain rather than genuine support. According to El-Rufai, Sani’s actions were an embarrassment to the people of Kaduna, who will, at the appropriate time, pass judgment on his political decisions. The former governor highlighted the federal government’s selective grants to Kaduna as a likely factor behind Sani’s loyalty to Tinubu.

El-Rufai concluded his remarks by reminding Sani that the people of Kaduna would hold him accountable for his actions, signaling that his defense of the president would not go unnoticed by the public.
