Chief Edwin Clark, a venerable elder statesman and leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, has vehemently condemned the recent military raid on his country home in the Kiagbodo Local Government Area of Delta State. In a statement released on Tuesday, Clark recounted the distressing events surrounding the raid, which occurred under the pretext of searching for a suspect linked to the killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama.
The military operation, characterized by the arrival of armed soldiers in five trucks and the deployment of drones, left Clark's residence in disarray. The soldiers forcefully entered buildings on the premises, including the home of Clark's late brother, Ambassador Akporode Blessing Clark. Shockingly, they disrupted the privacy of residents, including university lecturers, and even interrupted a young man's bath, leaving him exposed and humiliated.
Clark expressed profound dismay at the disrespectful and unlawful nature of the raid, emphasizing his extensive service to the nation spanning nearly 70 years. He underscored the need for state actors to accord him the respect and dignity he deserves in recognition of his contributions to the country.
Moreover, Clark issued a poignant reminder to President Muhammadu Buhari and other concerned parties, highlighting the potential consequences of any foul play or disregard for his safety. While acknowledging his advanced age of 97 years, he made it clear that any harm inflicted upon him would not go unanswered.
