Kano Governor Abba Yusuf has pledged to take necessary actions to return minors arrested during the #EndBadGovernance protests in Abuja. With charges including terrorism and treason, public outrage has emerged over the involvement of minors in serious allegations.

Abba Yusuf, the Governor of Kano State, has pledged to take all necessary steps to ensure the return of minors from Kano who were recently arrested during the #EndBadGovernance protests. On Friday, numerous suspects, including minors, were arraigned in a federal high court in Abuja, facing serious charges such as terrorism, arson, and treasonable felony.

During the proceedings, it was reported that four minors collapsed and required medical attention. The court subsequently granted bail of N10 million to each of the 72 defendants. The case has sparked significant public outcry, with many citizens, prominent politicians, and civil society members condemning the involvement of minors in such serious allegations.

Federal prosecutor Rimazonte Ezekiel asserted that all the accused individuals are adults, many of whom are married, a claim contested by Muyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, who noted that the youngest among the arraigned is only 13 years old.

In response to the situation, Governor Yusuf took to his X account to address the issue, stating that he had instructed Haruna Dederi, the Kano Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, to take immediate action. He expressed a commitment to doing everything possible to facilitate the return of the minors to Kano, emphasizing the importance of protecting vulnerable youth in the state.
