On the occasion of his 82nd birthday, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), shared reflections on the numerous instances he narrowly escaped death by God's grace.
Addressing congregants at the Redemption Camp, off Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun, Adeboye recounted specific incidents, notably one where a potentially fatal collision with a speeding trailer was miraculously averted.
Recalling a journey to Ilorin, Kwara, years ago, Adeboye's former driver had previously narrated several close encounters with death.
The most chilling involved their vehicle facing an oncoming trailer on a narrow path near a bridge beside a river. Miraculously, they emerged unscathed, leaving both Adeboye and his driver in awe.
Emphasizing that his survival was due to the wonder-working power of God, Adeboye expressed gratitude for reaching his 82nd birthday.
During the celebration, he extended prayers for the well-being of the church members, hoping that none would die young and that they would surpass his achievements.
The event also marked the 38th anniversary of the monthly Special Holy Ghost Service organized by the RCCG. Adeboye, in his sermon titled "On Eagles Wings," underscored the transformative power of God when one's case is beyond human assistance. He encouraged faith and holiness, asserting that God could provide victory without struggle.
Born in 1942, Adeboye has played a pivotal role in the growth of RCCG, transforming it into one of Nigeria's largest Pentecostal churches with a global presence. His vision includes establishing church branches within a short distance in both developing and developed cities.
