Following Lagos State law on People with Special Needs, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has closed the KFC facility at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos starting from March 28, 2024.

This action follows a report on social media by a Passenger with Reduced Mobility (PRM) who alleged discriminatory treatment at the airport. FAAN's Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, promptly initiated an investigation into the matter, deploying a management team to assess the situation. Based on their findings, FAAN decided to shut down the KFC facility where the incident took place.

Additionally, FAAN has instructed KFC management to issue a written apology to the affected PRM and display a policy statement of non-discrimination prominently at their facility before resuming operations. FAAN emphasizes its commitment to ensuring the rights of all passengers are upheld and expresses its apologies to the affected individual.
