In a harrowing incident along Gamji Road in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State, a convoy transporting a newlywed bride and approximately 30 women fell victim to armed bandits Thursday night.
The assailants intercepted the convoy, believed to be armed bandits, and abducted the women. During the attack, the truck conductor was shot, receiving medical treatment at Damari Hospital. Simultaneously, gunmen from Siddi forest infiltrated Tashar Nadaya near the Gazari district border in Sabuwa LGA, killing a commercial motorcycle rider and seizing his bike.
In a separate incident, they opened fire on a group, confiscating their motorcycles. The Chairman of Dandume Local Government Council, Alhaji Basiru Musa, confirmed the reports, expressing concern over the escalating security crisis. While unconfirmed reports suggest some kidnapped women managed to escape, verification efforts are underway.
Sabuwa and Dandume, heavily tormented by bandits, remain focal points of security challenges despite ongoing efforts by the Katsina Security Watch Corps and other forces.
