The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that Monday, October 2nd, 2023, will be observed as a public holiday to commemorate the country's 63rd independence celebration. The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the federal government. The Minister extended congratulations to all Nigerians, both at home and in the Diaspora, on this occasion.

In a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the Minister assured Nigerians of the government's unwavering commitment to addressing the nation's various challenges. He acknowledged that socio-economic and security challenges were global issues and emphasized that Nigeria was not isolated from them. However, he stressed that the government was dedicated to confronting these challenges with all available resources until relief was achieved.
