The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, September 27, 2023, a public holiday to commemorate the Eil-ul-Maulid celebration, which signifies the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The Minister extended his congratulations to Muslims for observing this year's occasion and encouraged them to embrace the values of love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance, which are deep spiritual virtues exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

In addition to this, the Minister urged young people to adopt a diligent work ethic and maintain peaceful relations with fellow citizens, regardless of differences in faith, ideology, social class, or ethnicity. This announcement underscores the importance of religious and cultural celebrations in promoting unity, understanding, and a spirit of cooperation among the diverse communities in Nigeria
