Super Eagles Head Coach Finidi George has shed light on his recent contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) during a media tour. Speaking on Arise News, Finidi clarified misconceptions about the contract's duration, emphasizing performance as pivotal.
He stressed that the two-year deal is performance-based, stating, "If I don’t perform, I will leave before that five years." Finidi also addressed logistical challenges, including finding suitable housing in Abuja.
He dismissed notions of disrespect from the NFF, highlighting the need for accountability and performance targets. Additionally, Finidi asserted his autonomy in selecting his coaching staff, which includes Daniel Amokachi and Benjamin James.
Previously an assistant coach, Finidi's tenure saw the Super Eagles qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, narrowly missing the title in the final against the hosts.
