Adesola Adeduntan, the managing director and CEO of First Bank of Nigeria Ltd, has announced his resignation, effective April 20, 2024, ahead of the scheduled end of his tenure on December 31, 2024.

In a letter addressed to Tunde Hassan-Odukale, the bank's board chairman, Adeduntan expressed gratitude for his nine-year tenure, during which he oversaw significant changes and advancements within the institution. Adeduntan, who was appointed CEO in 2016, highlighted his decision to retire to pursue other interests.

previously served as the bank's executive director and CFO, bringing extensive experience from roles at Africa Finance Corporation, Citibank Nigeria Limited, KPMG Professional Services, and Arthur Andersen Nigeria. Adeduntan's departure has sparked discussions about the future leadership of First Bank and its impact on the Nigerian banking sector, given his instrumental role in the institution's growth and development.
