Former Ghanaian striker Raphael Dwamena, aged 28, met an untimely demise after collapsing on the pitch during a match for local team Egnatia in the Albanian Super League. The distressing incident occurred in the 24th minute of the game against Partizani, as captured on social media.

Despite immediate first aid and intervention by specialist doctors, Dwamena couldn't be revived. No cause of death has been disclosed. Dwamena, diagnosed with a heart condition in 2017, had experienced a similar collapse during a 2021 game in Austria but recovered.

His diverse career spanned Spain's La Liga, Denmark, and Switzerland, and stints with Levante and Real Zaragoza. Tributes poured in from his former clubs, with Levante expressing condolences for the loss of their former player. Dwamena, who made nine appearances for Ghana, had been the leading scorer in the Albanian league this season with nine goals.
