Nani, the former Manchester United and Portugal winger, has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 38. He had been playing for Estrela Amadora in Portugal's top division this season, with his final match played for Sporting CP on November 1, 2024.

In a statement shared on social media, Nani expressed his gratitude for a career that spanned over two decades. "The time has come to say goodbye," he wrote, reflecting on the unforgettable memories and thanking everyone who supported him through the highs and lows. He also mentioned his excitement for the next chapter of his life, focusing on new goals and dreams.

Nani's career took off when he joined Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in 2007 for around £21 million. He went on to make 230 appearances for United, scoring 41 goals and winning numerous trophies, including the Champions League in his first season, four Premier League titles, and two League Cups. His best individual campaign came in 2010-11 when he was named United's Player of the Year and earned a spot in the PFA's Premier League Team of the Year.

In addition to his club success, Nani earned 112 caps for Portugal, scoring 24 goals and winning Euro 2016. His career saw him play for various clubs, including Fenerbahce, Valencia, Lazio, Orlando City, and Melbourne Victory before returning to Portugal to finish his playing days at Estrela Amadora.
