Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim's switch from PDP to APC highlights political shifts in Nigeria.
Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim has made headlines by defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made at an event in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, where APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje welcomed several prominent figures into the party.
Anyim, who previously served as Secretary to the Government of the Federation under President Goodluck Jonathan, also contested the 2022 PDP presidential primary, securing only 14 votes.
He represented Ebonyi South Senatorial District from 1999 to 2003 and held the position of Senate President during his tenure with the PDP. His defection underscores ongoing shifts and alliances within Nigeria's political landscape.
