The NYSC has introduced a policy requiring HND graduates to present Industrial Training (IT) certification to register at orientation camps. The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) now requires HND graduates to present Industrial Training (IT) certification for orientation camp registration. This policy has led to the rejection of several graduates, causing frustration among those unable to complete their national service due to documentation issues.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has introduced a policy mandating that Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates provide proof of Industrial Training (IT) certification before they can register at orientation camps throughout Nigeria. This new requirement has resulted in the immediate rejection of several graduates unable to present the necessary documentation.
At the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja, our correspondent noted that registration proceeded smoothly for those who had fulfilled all requirements. However, many HND graduates voiced their frustrations after being sent away for lacking the required IT certification, despite having completed their degrees.
One rejected graduate expressed her dissatisfaction, emphasizing the unfairness of being excluded from service while their peers were allowed to participate without facing the same requirements. A nursing mother, Mrs. Hauwa Collins, confirmed that the registration process was efficient for those with all documents in order but recognized the distress among those who were turned away due to the absence of their IT certificates.
As more corps members arrived at the camp, uncertainty remained for those who had been rejected. The implementation of this policy has raised concerns among graduates, who are hopeful for a resolution that will enable them to fulfill their national service obligations without being disadvantaged by documentation gaps.
