The Acting Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Chris Maiyaki, revealed a shocking revelation in an interview on Channels Television. The Nigerian government has unveiled a list of at least 37 illegal universities operating within the country.

Maiyaki emphasized the collaboration with security operatives, including the Department of State Services, in making arrests and clamping down on these unauthorized institutions.

The NUC has urged parents to consult its website to distinguish between legal and illegal universities, protecting their wards from falling victim to fraudulent activities.

This development follows the recent suspension of degree certificates from two West African countries, leading to the blacklisting of 18 universities. Additionally, the government is considering extending sanctions to universities in other African nations.
