In a public statement released on Wednesday, Serwaa Amihere, a renowned broadcast journalist at GHOne TV and Starr 103.5 FM, addressed the recent leak of her private video, which sparked controversy on April 2, 2024. Amihere revealed that the intimate video, recorded five years earlier, was leaked after months of threats and extortion attempts. Despite law enforcement efforts to apprehend the perpetrators, the video circulated widely, causing distress to her, her family, employers, and associated brands.
Acknowledging her underestimated influence, Amihere expressed deep embarrassment for herself, her family, and loved ones. She apologized for the fallout and the embarrassment, disappointment, and frustration it caused. The incident has not only affected her personally but also tarnished her professional reputation and the brands she represents.
The leaked video led to the detention of three individuals – Edem Saviour Ketti, Candylove Kwakyewaa Ababio, and Henry Amponsah (Henry Fitz) – who face charges of sexual extortion and dissemination of private visual content.
Amihere concluded her statement by expressing gratitude for the support received and emphasized the lessons learned from the ordeal, committing to moving forward despite the challenges faced.
