In a significant move aligned with President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced a groundbreaking decision to allocate 35% of recruitment slots to women in four critical agencies.
The revelation came after the Board meeting for Civil Defence, Fire, Correctional, and Immigration Services in Abuja on Friday. Tunji-Ojo emphasized that the new guidelines would prioritize professionalism, gender mainstreaming, and adherence to Federal Character principles in the ongoing recruitment process for the Federal Fire Service.
The Minister highlighted the broader modernization efforts, encompassing training, recruitment, promotion, professionalism, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies into the operations of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
The agencies are set to release recruitment timelines, with a stern warning against falling victim to scammers soliciting money for recruitment into the Fire Service. Additionally, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Caroline Adepoju, detailed plans for the Immigration Service's modernization, emphasizing capacity building and specialization to ensure promotions are based on merit rather than redundancy.
