The Federal Government has indefinitely postponed the commencement of the Nigerian Students Loan Scheme, originally slated to start on Thursday.
Akintunde Sawyer, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, revealed the delay in an interview with Arise News on Tuesday, citing the need for corrections in the launch process.
Sawyer expressed the challenges in providing a specific date and emphasized the importance of aligning stakeholders for a comprehensive and sustainable rollout.
The scheme, initiated by President Bola Tinubu in June 2023, aims to offer interest-free loans for higher education. Despite previous postponements, uncertainties persist about the kickoff date, leaving stakeholders and students awaiting further developments.
