Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State hosted Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali and the Rivers Hoopers, the latest National Basketball League champions, at the Rivers State Government House.

During the ceremony held at the Executive Council Chambers, Governor Fubara announced a generous cash gift of N20 million to Nwabali for his outstanding performance and nominated him for the prestigious Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State (DSSRS) award.

Additionally, the Super Eagles' crew, including Coach Jose Peseiro and Finidi George, received a cash reward of N30 million for their commendable efforts at the recent Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

In recognition of their championship victory, Governor Fubara also gifted the Rivers Hoopers with N50 million. Praising Nwabali and the team's achievements, Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of promoting excellence and honouring individuals and teams that bring pride to Rivers State.

He reiterated his commitment to fostering an environment conducive to success and urged the people of Rivers to continue contributing positively to the state's reputation on the global stage.
