Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara directs all Heads of Local Government Administration to assume control following the tenure expiration of LGA Chairmen, ensuring seamless local governance and continued infrastructural and welfare development.
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has mandated all Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs) to take immediate control of the councils across the state’s 23 local government areas. This directive comes as the tenure of the current LGA Chairmen expired on June 17, 2024.
In a broadcast on Tuesday, Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of continuity in local governance and urged the HLGAs to step in with renewed energy and readiness to serve. “Effective today, June 18, 2024, all HLGAs are to take charge of their respective councils,” he announced, acknowledging the dedicated service of the outgoing LGA Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and Councilors.
Fubara praised the outgoing officials for their commitment and successful tenure, wishing them well in their future endeavors. He stressed that this transition is in line with Nigerian law, ensuring no administrative vacuum is left as the new leaders assume their roles.
Governor Fubara reassured Rivers State residents of his ongoing commitment to their welfare.
