The Federal Government has imposed a ban on health workers seeking leave of absence for overseas relocation, citing concerns related to the 'japa' trend.

Minister of State for Health, Dr. Tunji Alausa, revealed that health professionals intending to work abroad must now resign before embarking on such journeys, following an Executive Order issued by President Bola Tinubu.

The move aims to counter the 'Japa Syndrome' or brain drain affecting the health sector. Alausa noted aggressive recruitment efforts to address workforce shortages and assured improvements in funding, infrastructure, and welfare for health workers.
