Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressives Governors' Forum of the APC, has asserted that assessing President Bola Tinubu's performance in critical sectors like security and the economy is premature. Speaking on Channels Television's Sunday Politics program, Uzodimma expressed confidence that Tinubu, also a member of the APC, would lead Nigeria out of its economic challenges.
Amidst economic hardships, including a 28.92% inflation rate, 33.93% food inflation, and over 133 million multidimensionally poor Nigerians, Uzodimma assured Nigerians that Tinubu holds the "password" to addressing these challenges. He emphasized that the effects of Tinubu's policies would manifest in the coming months, bringing about sweeping reforms that would garner praise from the public.
As Nigerians grapple with socio-economic difficulties, Uzodimma, who blamed cabals for the nation's woes, highlighted Tinubu's actions, such as subsidy removal on petrol and unifying foreign exchange windows, as critical steps toward economic recovery.
"I am confident. I believe that if this man cannot get this country correct, then something must be wrong," Uzodimma declared, countering those urging a quicker assessment of Tinubu's presidency.
The governor's defense aligns with his role as Chairman of the South-East Governors' Forum and the Progressives Governors' Forum, where he emphasized unanimous support for Tinubu in his quest to steer the nation toward the vision of its founding fathers.
Despite the prevailing economic challenges, Uzodimma's remarks underscore a steadfast belief in Tinubu's capacity to implement transformative policies and drive the country toward a more prosperous future.
