Renowned Nigerian musicians Tiwa Savage and Davido are now embroiled in a public dispute, as Tiwa Savage filed a petition with the Lagos Commissioner of Police, alleging threats of assault and harassment from the Grammy-nominated megastar.
The petition, obtained by TheCable Lifestyle on January 9, reveals a series of unsettling exchanges between the two artists. Tiwa Savage claims that Davido sent threatening messages to her manager, warning her not to say a word to him and accusing her of taunting him with disrespectful and derogatory words on her Instagram Story.
The controversy revolves around a post made by Tiwa Savage on December 23, featuring herself and Sophia Momodu on her Instagram Story. According to the petition, Davido took offense and accused Tiwa Savage of maintaining a relationship with Imade's mother, Sophia Momodu, with whom he is reportedly having issues.
In response to Davido's accusations, Tiwa Savage asserted that she had been supportive during difficult times in Davido's life, including the loss of his son. However, the situation escalated as Davido allegedly warned Tiwa Savage through mutual connections, threatening to "f**k her up."
Tiwa Savage contends that Davido's actions amount to both online and offline harassment, not only directed at her but also at members of her team. The petition argues that Davido's behavior violates Tiwa Savage's rights to life, privacy, and dignity as guaranteed in the Nigerian Constitution and is in contravention of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015.
In the petition, Tiwa Savage calls on the Nigerian Police Force to hold Davido responsible in the event of any harm befalling her or her family. She states, "I am available to answer any questions or provide any additional information regarding this matter," and attaches screenshot images of the alleged exchange between herself and Davido for the police's perusal.
