In a somber ceremony that echoed both grief and resilience, the late Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, a 12-year-old pupil of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos State, was laid to rest on Saturday at the family's compound in Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta. The emotional gathering marked the end of a two-year quest for justice following Sylvester's untimely demise on November 30, 2021, under controversial circumstances, allegedly due to torture by some senior students at his college.

The burial ceremony drew dignitaries, family members, friends, and well-wishers, all united in mourning the loss of a promising young life. Emotions ran high as tears flowed freely during the funeral, underscoring the tragedy that has gripped the Oromoni family and resonated across the nation.

Reverend Goodluck Bayagbon of the God's Grace Ministry, Warri, delivered a poignant homily titled 'Forever With The Lord,' drawn from the book of Isaiah 57:1-2. The cleric urged Christians to emulate a life worthy of heavenly candidacy, portraying Sylvester Oromoni Jnr as a true believer in Christ who had now found solace free from the world's troubles.

"He was a good young boy, who cared so much about his fellow students, friends, sisters, brothers, and all those who crossed his path," Reverend Bayagbon expressed. "He was diligent and was a devout Christian. Though he left very young, he has achieved the purpose of God who created him. We are here to celebrate him, not to mourn."

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, joined the gathering to eulogize Sylvester, emphasizing the impactful life the young Nigerian led before it was tragically cut short. Falana acknowledged Sylvester's influence on teachers, friends, and fellow students, urging all present to reflect on what they would be remembered for after their time on earth.

The Oromoni family, particularly the father of the deceased, expressed an unwavering commitment to pursuing justice for Sylvester. Vowing to continue the fight for justice, the father declared, "I cannot be tired or discouraged from pursuing justice as I have promised my son to get him justice even if it will take thirty years to achieve it."
