Kaduna State House of Assembly exposes major embezzlement during former Governor El-Rufai’s tenure, uncovering poorly executed, abandoned, and fictitious projects. Anti-corruption agencies are urged to investigate and hold those responsible accountable, reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment to transparency and justice.

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has uncovered a significant financial misappropriation during the tenure of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

This revelation was made public by Henry Magaji, the Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the Fact-Finding Committee. According to Magaji, an in-depth investigation revealed a series of poorly executed, abandoned, and fictitious projects that disguised a large-scale embezzlement of state resources.

Magaji criticized former political appointees of El-Rufai’s administration for attempting to discredit the findings of the House Probe Committee during a recent press conference. He stated that these appointees resorted to personal attacks rather than addressing the substantial evidence of corruption presented by the committee.

The probe uncovered numerous fraudulent contracts and direct looting, contributing to significant state debt without corresponding development.
In response to these findings, the House has called on anti-corruption agencies to investigate and question those implicated.

Magaji emphasized that the responsibility to validate or challenge these findings lies with these agencies, not with individuals who previously held office and were involved in the alleged misappropriations. The House of Assembly remains committed to its constitutional mandate to safeguard the welfare and security of Kaduna State’s citizens.

Magaji also mentioned ongoing legal proceedings with Nasir El-Rufai concerning the right to a fair hearing, underscoring the Assembly's adherence to the rule of law and due process. He reaffirmed that the probe was conducted to fulfill their oath of office and serve the people of Kaduna State.

The Assembly aims to ensure that those responsible for the misuse of public funds are held accountable, highlighting their dedication to transparency and justice.
